Programme Philosophy

To produce graduates of high academic standing with adequate practical exposure in ALL aspect of Anatomical sciences who can function adequately in the medical education process, complement ancillary laboratory medical services to the greater society and develop entrepreneurial expertise in related disciplines.


Programme Objectives

The Programme will be sufficiently broad-based to lead to the production of graduates who will be able to perform the following functions:

  • Assist in teaching Anatomy courses in B.Sc Anatomy, Medical, Dental, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Sciences students and those of other related disciplines.
  • Acquire competence in the use of basic laboratory equipment.
  • Demonstrate with an acceptable degree of manual dexterity on the normal living subject, the position, extent and functional integrity of organ and systems.
  • Identify the position extent of normal structures in radiographs, contrast studies, air studies, angiograms and osteology materials.
  • Promote anatomy as a subject through research that will lead to the acquisition of higher qualifications such as M.Sc and Ph.D degrees.

Graduation Requirements for Anatomy (B.Sc.)

To be eligible for the award of the Bachelor of Science in Anatomy, a student must satisfy the following graduation requirements.

  • A student must register for a minimum of 16 or a maximum of 25 credit units in any one semester, provided that the total credit load does not exceed 50 in a session.
  • A student must pass a minimum credit unit of 150 credit for UTME candidates(4 year programme) and 120 credit for D.E candidates (3 year programme) including all compulsory courses prescribed by the Department and the University.
  • Complete successfully all class work, Industrial attachment, seminars and project.
