79-year Old Alumnus motivates Crescent University students at 19th Matriculation
A 79-year-old alumnus of the Bola Ajibola College of Law (BACOLAW), Crescent University, Abeokuta, HRH Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, the Oba of Akinale has motivated the newly admitted students of Crescent University Abeokuta with his journey of academic excellence.
Oba Ogunleye, a retired journalist and public relations expert unveiled amid applause that he was gratified to have graduated with a Bachelor of Law from BACOLAW at age 73 and assured students that age was never a barrier to achieving one’s set goals.
He said studying at Crescent University Abeokuta had enhanced his status as a traditional ruler having now specialized in alternative dispute resolution after his doctoral degree in Law from another university.
Earlier, in his matriculation address, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila extolled the sacrifice of the late university founder, His Excellency, Judge Bola Ajibola for establishing the university of academic and moral excellence. He also acknowledged the visionary leadership of the Proprietor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prince Mahruf Adesegun Ajibola (SAN) for sustaining the excellence.
Five hundred and eight students matriculated from six colleges: Arts, Social, and Management Sciences; Health Sciences; Natural and Applied Sciences; Information and Communication Technology; Environmental Sciences and Bola Ajibola College of Law as full-time students while three hundred and fifty students were also matriculated for part-time programmes.
Prof. Gbajabiamila stressed that “at today’s ceremony, you will be required to solemnly declare on oath your loyalty to the university to abide by its rules and regulations as well as appreciate and cherish the values of Crescent University.
The Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede was ably represented by the Ogun State Coordinator of the Board, Mr Hakeem Abdul Hamid.
